Serves lots!


  • 300gr plain flour

  • 30g of grappa (alternative: rum, brandy or cointreau)

  • Zest of 1 lemon

  • 40gr butter

  • 40gr castor sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • Vanilla essence

  • Icing sugar for dusting

  • Veggy oil for deep frying


  1. Add all of the ingredients in the bowl and combined well

  2. Knead for at least 5 mins

  3. Rest in the fridge (cling wrapped) for 30 mins

  4. Roll out using a pasta machine, folding at least 10 times and then roll out to 2nd thinnest setting

  5. Cut into ribbons, make a slit in the middle and loops one end through the slit

  6. Make sure you oil is 180degrees and deep fry until a light golden brown

  7. Remove, drain on towel and dust with icing sugar

  8. Eat
